About Witsday

Witsday makes free daily puzzle games that you play in your browser. Each game has one short puzzle a day, the same for everyone, so you can compare with friends. A puzzle takes a couple of minutes, and you don’t need an account or an app.

The games

Besides the daily puzzle, each game has more ways to play: Endless rounds, a two-minute Blitz, live Party rooms with friends and an Archive of past days.

New every day

A new puzzle starts at midnight where you are. Once a day is over everywhere, its answers go up on the game’s Past puzzles page, with the facts and sources behind them.

How the puzzles are made

Every answer is checked against public sources before its day, and each one links to its source. Rewind’s photos are real archive photos, public domain or CC0, from collections such as NASA, the Library of Congress and the US and Dutch National Archives. Each photo’s year comes from a dated record, never an upload or scan date. Witsday isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by any of these collections.

AI assistants research and draft the puzzle text and run the fact checks against those sources. None of the photos is AI-generated.

Spotted a mistake? Use the Report button next to the answer after you play, or tell us, and we’ll fix it.

Free to play

Every daily puzzle is free, and always will be. An optional Pro membership adds every Endless pack and the whole Archive, and it keeps Witsday going. Pro never buys a better rank: everyone plays the same puzzles.

There are no ads yet. If we add them, there will be one after you finish a puzzle, never during one, and none for Pro members.

Your privacy

You don’t need an account to play. Your streaks and stats are kept in your browser. To check each guess, our server keeps your daily guesses and scores under a random ID, never your name or email, for about a year. If you sign in, your daily games and streaks are kept with your account, for the leaderboards. We count visits ourselves, without cookies. The privacy policy has the details.
